Live registration of an unique concert in club Off Corso!

In 2008 the Gergiev Festival Rotterdam took place from 6-13 September with the theme "Between heaven and earth". The New Trombone Collective was given a "Carte Noire" to devise a program within this theme. In the club Off_Corso in Rotterdam the NTC played a concert with the title "Limbo Lounge" which culminated in a dance party. This DVD is a recording of this unique night concert on September 11, 2008.

LIMBO LOUNGE
Until recently, the catholic doctrine said, the limbo is the waiting room of hell. Composer Florian Magnus Maier has always found this idea nonsense. According to him it is a place where you can party - hence Limbo Lounge for trombone collective. The work follows a centuries-old tradition, because since the time of Monteverdi, the trombone served as the voice of the underworld.

"Hell is not a bad place to be”, this could be the argument for this concert. Or in other words: What do the trombone players, who announce the end of the world, do in their free time?
