Rondreis door Europa van de 17e eeuw
Dompel jezelf onder in de klanken uit de 17e eeuw op zondag 29 maart om 14.00
uur. Het Scorpio Collectief, met trombonist Simen van Mechelen, treedt in de
voetsporen van Nicolo Dalla Casa (trombonist in dienst van de San Marco Kathedraal
in Venetië) en neemt je mee op een imaginaire reis door Europa.
Met werken van Monteverdi, Castello, Schmelzer, Schein, Cesare en Susato.
Slide Factory van start voor trombonestudenten
Maandag 23 maart gaat Slide Factory al van start voor de trombonestudenten uit New York, Lyon, Lausanne, Berlijn en Rotterdam. Zij volgen de hele week masterclasses van Joseph Alessi, Stefan Schulz, Michel Becquet en Jörgen van Rijen.
De masterclasses resulteren in het concert De Nieuwe Belofte op vrijdag 27 maart om 15.00 uur.
Zaterdag treden de studenten in verschillende formaties op in het centrum van Rotterdam om samen te komen op het Schouwburgplein waar het grote Earth Tone Journey pleinspektakel plaatsvindt. |

Meet the Maestros
Zaterdag 28 maart om 10.00 uur moet je er vroeg bij zijn om de maestros Christian Lindberg en Joseph Alessi te ontmoeten. De twee, misschien wel beroemdste trombonisten ter wereld, spelen ieder een solostuk:
Alessi speelt de wereldpremière van een nieuw, voor hem geschreven werk voor
trombone en piano: “Love's Notes” van Nicola Ferro;
Lindberg speelt het door
hemzelf geschreven solostuk “Joe Jack Binglebandit”.
Daarbij geven Joseph en Christian uitleg bij de muziek en kan
het publiek al haar prangende vragen op hen afvuren.
Zinnenprikkelend Courtois Galaconcert
Tijdens het Courtois Galaconcert op zaterdagavond 28 maart gaan alle registers open. Oude klassieke werken komen voorbij maar ook jazz, modern en nieuw gecomponeerde muziek hebben een belangrijke plaats in het programma.
Het Nieuw Trombone Collectief met gastsolisten Joseph Alessi, Christian Lindberg
en Nils Wogram, gaan tot het uiterste om de zinnen te prikkelen in onder andere
de wereldpremière van ‘Alice meets NTC’ van Evert Josemanders waarin de trombonisten
spelen in combinatie met tape en film.
Na afloop gaat het muziekfeest door met
de Young Sinatra’s in de foyer van de Jurriaanse Zaal.

Zaterdagmiddag 28 maart klinkt de imposante compositie Earth Tone Journey van
de Engelse componist Andrew Peggie op het Schouwburgplein.
Het stuk wordt gespeeld
door een monsterbezetting van 6 groepen met in totaal 150-200 trombones, een
gamelangroep (Azie), percussie/zanggroep van de Kaapverdische Eilanden (Afrika)
en een Antilliaanse Brassband (Zuid-Amerika).

Travel through Europe of the 17th century
On Sunday March 29 you can submerge yourself in the sounds of the 17th century.
The Scorpio Collective, with trombonist Simen van Mechelen, follows the trails

Slide Factory takes off for trombone students
Monday March 23 Slide Factory already starts for the trombone students from New York, Lyon, Lausanne, Berlin and Rotterdam.
All week they will follow master classes by Joseph Alessi, Stefan Schulz, Michel
Becquet and Jörgen van Rijen.
These master classes will lead to the concert “Musicians of tomorrow” on Friday
March 27 at 15.00. On Saturday, the students will perform in small groups in
the centre of Rotterdam.
After that they come together on the Schouwburgplein
for the Earth Tone Journey Open Air Spectacle. |

Meet the Maestros
On Saturday March 28 you can meet the maestros Christian Lindberg
and Joseph Alessi. Each of them will play a piece:
Alessi
will play the world premiere of a new piece for trombone and
piano, written especially for him: “Love's Notes” by Nicola
Ferro;
Lindberg will play his own piece “Joe Jack Binglebandit”.
Furthermore
Joseph en Christian will give explanations about the music
and the audience can ask their questions.
Titillating Courtois Gala Concert
During the Courtois Gala Concert on Saturday March 28 classical works are combined with jazz, modern works and brand new pieces.
The New Trombone Collective and friends (Joseph Alessi, Christian Lindberg and
Nils Wogram) will raise their limits to the max.
One example is the world premiere
of “Alice meets NTC” by Evert Josemanders. In this piece the trombones will play
together with tape and film.
After this concert the party will continue with
the Young Sinatras in the foyer of the Jurriaanse Zaal.

Listen to Andrew Peggie’s impressive composition Earth Tone Journey at the Schouwburgplein
on Saturday afternoon March 28.
The piece will be played by a line up of 6 groups
of around 150-200 trombones, a gamelan group (Asia), percussion/singing group
from the Cape Verde Islands (Africa) and an Antillian Brassband (South America).
