Harry Watters vervangt Gordon
Wycliffe Gordon reist eind maart niet af naar Rotterdam om tijdens Slide Factory op te treden. De gezondheid van de jazzmusicus is dusdanig dat hij geen lange afstanden mag vliegen van zijn arts.
Gelukkig heeft de organisatie van Slide Factory een meer dan waardige vervanger
weten te vinden. De geweldige jazzsolist met zijn roots in New Orleans, Harry
Watters.
Hongaarse verrassingen
Tijdens Slide Factory 2009 staat de spotlight op Hongarije met het Corpus Trombone Quartet. De Franz Liszt academie in Budapest is een bijzondere opleiding in Hongarije waar de trombonisten van het Corpus Trombone Kwartet hebben gestudeerd.
Tijdens het lunchconcert op vrijdag 27 maart laten zij de rijke traditie van hun land horen in samenwerking met de internationaal doorgebroken Csaba Wagner (bastrombonist Staatskapelle Berlin) afkomstig van dezelfde school.
Adem mee met Erik van Lier
Op vrijdag 27 maart, vanaf 17.30 uur, leer je alles over de voordelen van Alexandertechniek
tijdens de clinic van Erik van Lier. De techniek wordt gebruikt om aan de ene
kant blessures te voorkomen en aan de andere kant op een effectievere manier
te spelen.
Behalve over Alexandertechniek vertelt Erik ook over ademhalingstechniek
en het grote belang van een goede ademhaling. |

Een Nederlandse traktatie
Slide Factory sluit af met een spetterend jazz concert op zondag 29 maart om
16.30 uur. De Bigband van het Codarts conservatorium onder leiding
van Ilja Reijngoud verzorgt speciaal voor Slide Factory een spectaculair
programma met 4 topsolisten van Nederlandse bodem:

Zaterdagmiddag 28 maart klinkt de imposante compositie Earth Tone Journey van
de Engelse componist Andrew Peggie op het Schouwburgplein.
Het stuk wordt gespeeld
door een monsterbezetting van 6 groepen met in totaal 150-200 trombones, een
gamelangroep (Azie), percussie/zanggroep van de Kaapverdische Eilanden (Afrika)
en een Antilliaanse Brassband (Zuid-Amerika).

Harry Watters replaces Gordon
Wycliffe Gordon will not travel to Rotterdam at the end of March to
attend Slide Factory. Because of the jazz musician's health condition,
his doctor is not allowing him to do any international travel at this
time.
Fortunately the organization of Slide Factory has found a more than worthy replacement
Harry Watters, the amazing jazzsoloist with roots in New Orleans.
Hungarian surprises
During Slide Factory 2009 special emphasis will be put on Hungary. The Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest is a very special academy in Hungary where all trombonists of the Corpus Trombone Quartet have studied.
During the lunch concert on Friday March 27 they will show their country’s rich
tradition in co-operation with the internationally known Csaba Wagner (bass trombonist
of the Staatskapelle Berlin) who was also a student at this academy.
Breath with Erik van Lier
Learn everything about the benefits of Alexander technique, during the clinic
by Erik van Lier on Friday March 27. The technique is used to avoid injuries
and also to play in a more efficient way.
In addition to Alexander technique, Erik will discuss breathing techniques
and the importance of good breathing. |

Dutch treat
Slide Factory will close with a spectacular jazz concert on Sunday afternoon
March 29th. Codarts conservatory’s’ big band led by one of the greatest Dutch
trombonists, Ilja Reijngoud has put together a spectacular program with 4 top
soloists from the Netherlands:

Listen to Andrew Peggie’s impressive composition Earth Tone Journey at the Schouwburgplein
on Saturday afternoon March 28. The piece will be played by a line up of 6 groups
of around 150-200 trombones, a gamelan group (Asia), percussion/singing group
from the Cape Verde Islands (Africa) and an Antillian Brassband (South America).
